Since 1993, S&P has provided governmental and corporate customers with expertise in the field of atmospheric dispersion simulations.

Based on project-specific topography, meteorological conditions and release scenarios, and using validated, state-of-the-art computer models for windfield and particle dispersion simulations, we provide expert reports on the atmospheric dispersion of aerosols and gasses, and the subsequent effect on the surrounding area and population.

Planning the construction of additional lanes or sound barriers on motorways are typical applications for our technologies, as are simulations of chimney-based or accidental industrial releases.

  Waste incineration facility in Zella

Using WinKFZ's point release feature, S&P used data on meteorology, topographical structures and release rates to simulate the impact of the immissions caused by a waste incineration plant in Zella.

  NATO pipeline evaluations

For this project, S&P developed a new software module that allows the simulation of fluid dynamics in complex terrain. Using the new alpha version of WinKFZ 8.0 and the new fluid dynamics simulation module, a number of potential pipeline accident scenarios were simulated and assessed, including slow leaks and burst pipelines in residential and environmentally sensitive areas.

Using the new WinKFZ 7.5 software package, S&P took data on meteorology, road and building structures, and traffic volume development predictions, and assessed the impact of a new sound abatement wall on neighbouring structures along the A6 motorway near Moorenbrunn.
